Must do The artist César Manrique, an iconic figure of Lanzarote, used his works to advocate for environmental protection – a legacy that still shapes the development of his native island today. His best-known work is a 3-hectare troglodyte house built into the volcanic rock. His last work, the Cactus Garden, is a superb Garden of Eden of over 100 species of cactus spread over 5,000 square metres. Pay a visit to the wild paradise of Playa de Papagayo, with its golden sand and emerald waters, as well as the green lagoon of El Golfo, whose colours contrast perfectly with the red and black volcanic earth. The seafront Janubio salt flats are a captivating sight to behold, especially at sunset.
